September 27, 2021

There are many reasons to go to physical therapy. Whether you’ve recently had surgery or been injured or if you have chronic pain from arthritis or another condition, physical therapy can help. There are many types of therapies that can help with pain; physical therapy includes many different therapies. While doing strengthening exercises is important, that’s not all physical therapy has to offer. Keep reading to learn more about Northern Colorado physical therapy offerings at Adeo Physical Therapy.

Northern Colorado Physical Therapy After Surgery

If you’ve just had surgery, your surgeon might prescribe physical therapy. This is common for surgeries like joint replacement, ankle surgery, spinal fusion, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff surgery, and hernia repair. Any surgery involving a joint or skeletal muscles often needs physical therapy. While surgery will fix the underlying problem, your body needs help recovering. As you rest immediately after surgery, you won’t be using your muscles. Therefore, you will need help recovering your range of motion, function, and strength.

Types of Therapies at Adeo Physical Therapy

If you’ve been suffering from intense pain or struggling with chronic pain for a long time, you might have already tried physical therapy or other types of therapies. At Adeo Physical Therapy, we offer many different types of therapies, including aquatic therapy, cold laser therapy, cupping, electrical stimulation, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, trigger point dry needling (TDN), and ultrasound.

When you think of physical therapy, you probably think of therapeutic exercise – stretches and strengthening exercises designed to increase mobility and strength. There are many other forms of treatment in physical therapy – trigger point dry needling, cupping, myofascial release to name a few. Trigger point dry needling targets specific areas to release trigger points that could be causing pain by inserting small, sterile needles into the muscle. Cupping is another therapy used to treat pain or muscle tightness. Suction is applied through a plastic cup placed on the skin, which draws in the skin, connective tissues, fascia, and surface muscles to increase blood flow and hydration to tissues, aid in lymphatic drainage, and release adhesions.
